I'm not defending anything. We are fighting here for what we deserve. I am simply stating that I have had to claim per diem as taxable before, and by definition it is income. However, most airlines, mine AND yours included pay so little per diem that it almost always falls below minimum daily allowed in most areas of the country. I was a truck driver in my previous life so I have been dealing with per diem for 20 years and my accountant, bank, and I have always treated it as income. This has nothing to do with the fact that our pay scale sucks. Id still treat per diem as income even if I made 100k before it.
