You need to understand the business model if you come here. In general very few flights tues, wed, sat; lots of flights the other days. So there's your 2 or 3 days off per week. Very hard to break out of this pattern unless you're very senior or maybe in a slow month like September. Staffing is not sufficient to give everybody a bunch of days off in a row with this model. A base like LAS you might have something like 28 of 30 pilots have to work sundays & fridays. Unless a contract is reached that mandates a certain staffing number that would allow pilots more flexibility I would not expect this to change.
OAK has 3 crews; historically in the winter they have dropped it to 1 or 2 and TDY'd the others.
