@aksled: sure they may still be around, but who besides the lifers will be there? If you were a new pilot looking for your first 121 job, who would choose Silver over virtually anywhere else? Pay sucks, if hired now you might upgrade before the end of the decade, only reason to go to 3M is if you want to be based in MCO, IAD or FLL. With right seat attrition, you should get whatever base you want fairly quickly. That's about the only upside. But remember, even the lifers in TPA just got hosed with that base closing. You can make the same money with a much better chance at an upgrade at Mesa these days, or better money and a quick upgrade at PSA or Compass. 3M has very little to offer prospective pilots on the job hunt. Take a look at Great lakes. 3M is not far behind.
