Personally, when I was talking to airline friends (DAL/UAL//AA/SWA guys) about applying to either company (14 months ago), Literally everyone told me not to apply to either airline because they both suck. I'm glad I didn't listen, as I'd still be waiting for a call from another airline. Point is, both sides have there pros and cons. Won't matter in a few years.
So, are they offering a side and letting guys decline and wait for the other side? Or if you decline do you loose the offer completely.
Unfortunately, a lot of people make their judgements based on this message board. Bottom line is that there are many many variables to consider. Bases, pay in the long term, seniority gain, etc. I used to have hesitations about us airways for numerous reasons, but it was a very wise choice to come here. Someone that is set on 1 particular airline because of some stigma may pay the price of loosing lots of seniority waiting for a call which could take years or even failing up the interview for that #1 choice. Putting all your eggs in one basket isn't smart and is irresponsible if you have a family to support.
