If they are within the SOP, I let them fly their own ship, step outside and we have a friendly chat. I hated micro managers and recognize that some people have to figure it out on their own, but a raggedy approach within the SOP is still painful to watch. The majority of the 40k numbers do just fine, there seem to be a sour band of Sullys that are a lot of work. One of the smoothest, squared away F/O, I have ever flown with had never sat in the left seat of anything bigger than a 172, he was a natural! He is flying freight in a 747.
