As a fellow furlough, I can tell you ASA ALPA paid my COBRA premiums from the assessment levied on the entire pilot group. It was put to a vote and the furlough fund assessment barely passed with less than 300 members taking the time to vote. Every independent group that tried to do something similar failed due to the difficulties of setting up a legal trust to receive and distribute funds.
Your other views not withstanding, our union did provide COBRA assistance if we needed it. While I am happy another individual provided for you, the ASA COBRA fund was more than adequate to the point that refund checks were eventually issued. Please take time to consider before you use false information to disparage your pilot group again.
