The difference in money to upgrade to narrowbody captain today is not significant and my QOL is better as a heavy international f/o.
If we go to LBP, senior f/o's will make less and junior captains will make more. That will be enough motivation for me to upgrade. I will make more but take a personal hit to QOL. Pilots junior to me will be delayed from upgrading to captain, because I'll be taking the seat before I would have under the current system.
The unintended consequence may be less choice.
I don't think is any "may" about it. The seniority list will flatten out and the ability to delay upgrade for QOL will be reduced. Just as the ability of those who choose the quick upgrade will be reduced.
