I know of one guy who turned on unprotected side of a hold and another who tracked outbound from the VOR for 5 min before figuring it out. Both were hired.......
I don't think they have a PTS style standard on how well you have to in order to "pass", they are looking for basic IFR skills, and will give you the benefit of the doubt if they deem necessary.
