Right now the LIMFAC for new guy training is the simulator. They just added an E-period to the schedules (2220 brief for a 2350-0350 sim), so unless training gets access to more simulators, they're pretty much maxxed out in capability. I was impressed how they keep so many moving parts moving fairly smoothly, that has to be a logistical nightmare.
What is LIMFAC?
I also respect the logistics behind that much hiring and training. They could even fat staff things for a bit in the schoolhouse and even if the pipeline was clogged at least you have people vetted, hired and through indoc with training materials in hand. That's a lot better than trying to perfectly time everything with "just in time" perfection.
A certain amount of bottleneck is a good buffer because even a small amount under what we need due to imperfect timing at any level usually equates to unflyable block hours lost.
