I know the computers/software we are using to create our schedules is quite antiquated. Recently, just read about a man who runs a gambling business, and he simulates the entire football season 50,000 times in under 2 minutes. Yep, 256 games with 22 players imputed to come up with his predictions.
SkyWest could pay this guy a few mil to save them millions per year, but that's against our corporate philosophy.
I understand that part of it is our major partners dictating the schedules so a few 16 hour 4 days per month and some deadheads per month is inevitable. It's just ridiculous when the AVERAGE credit 4 day barely breaks the 20 hour mark in 200+ crew domiciles. I know some low credit stuff will happen due to us not setting their schedules but with 200 lines to work with in some domiciles they can't claim that there are zero ways to improve efficiency. It just blows my mind that they're unwilling to do it, especially when staffing is becoming a problem.
