I just talked to a friend who was awarded SLC in August, he won't actually transition until December or January even though he doesn't require a training event. As a new guy I didn't realize just how much time could pass between award and action, especially considering no training.
The conversion window of a vacancy bid is typically six months long. A pilot can be converted any time within that window, so long as he is converted in seniority order with other pilots holding an AE to that same category.
