In 2007 virtually everyone who came to Compass already held an ATP and came with previous experience from at least one prior airline. Many had multiple previous airlines. We had big iron pilots from Champion and ATA as they shut down, furloughs from United and American etc. Back then there were not a lot of places hiring out of work airline pilots and Compass collected a mix of out of work and stagnated at the bottom of their list airline pilots. They brought a lot of experience. With those applicants to choose from, 1500 hour cfi applicants rarely got calls. We still get a lot of good applicants with previous experience, but not enough to fill classes, so we are seeing more CFI time only applicants. Judging by the new f/o's that I have flown with, they are still hiring good people with brains and the right attitude, but the experience is definitely less.
Man, I wish they would call me. I would love to work at Compass.
