I'm senior on the 717 FO side. The GS have pretty much dried up. They've finally gotten the FO staffing up to full numbers. Most days are blue for the month now-a-days. These days you pretty much have to live in base and get one when in IROPS and they run out of short call guys. It was good while it lasted. The LCA thing. You don't necessarily need the employee numbers. Like some one said, there is a PBS command of "award trip if line check airman". The catch on that one is this: You've got to be a little careful about what you'll take. A good many of the LCAs on the 717 are junior, and some get pretty crappy trips. If you get paired with him on one of those, watch out, because he's likely trying to drop/swap it. If he's successful, guess what. You're doing it unless you can also dump it. I bit with them but have a personal cut-off as to trip quality that I'm not willing to roll the dice with. Luckily for me, I'm high enough that 90% of mine are LCA and they are practically always taken. I'd say we've got another year or so to ride this train until it it's back to normal.
