That's true in the US...but not at a number of foriegn airlines. In some cases a year 5 FO who upgrades becomes a year 1 CA

Eagle would be a bad example...plan on being an FO for 5+ years, and that's being optimistic (it's 8 years now).

Typical, average regional you would upgrade at around 3 years...at which point you would be a year 3 CA.
