Military pilots especially fighters can be in 10 years and not have 2000 total. I can be argued that they have better training and they do more in those 2000 hrs than we do in 5000. Sitting around for 5000 hrs in cruise doesn't add too much value
Spirit is not as accommodating to military pilots as say Delta. Spirit requires 3000 TT with no military conversion, whereas Delta will (and does) take military pilots with 1500 TT.
I think these differences stem from the makeup of management and the pilot group at large. Most of Delta's flight operations management is ex military. Spirit's is nearly all civilian. The pilot groups' demographics follow these trends as well.
