DWI/Alcohol Abuse Question
Afternoon All,
In 2011 I was arrested for a DWI and lost my medical certificate. At the time I did not pursue getting my medical reinstated and instead focused on sobriety and getting my life back in order. I attended a 28 day treatment facility and have been sober since the incident. After 3 1/2 years I've decided to try in get back in the cockpit. I went to the AME for an examination and of course it was deferred, which I was expecting. I just received my letter from the FAA statING the required steps to get medical approved.
-Copies of pertinent treatment records
-A detailed statement from myself regaregarding past and presentertainment alcohol use.
-At least 3 letters from a responsible individual such as a counselor, employer, physician, minister.
-Police/investigation report
-Copies of court records
-All records associted with care/treatment of alcohol abuse
-Complete copy of my driving record.
The DWI was reduced to a reckless operation although I do have a DWI conviction from 2003 that has been previously reported to the FAA. I have all the requested documentation above.
My questions are,
What are my chances of getting my medical certificate back?
Who long does the process take?
Are there any other steps I should take to increase the odds of rein statement?
Thank you in advance
