You obviously know your situation better than I. However, I think 6 days would be the max you could ever knock out in your scenario. 3 from the actual vaca, 1 from the extension and 2 from the buffer (assuming the buffer actually hits two R-days). How are you knocking out 6 if your buffer only knocks out 1?

I should have been more clear. One day was already being knocked out with the buffer, so the extension caused another to be knocked out by the buffer.
