Why we held the line at XJT
This is part of a letter from the new ExpressJet MEC Chairman. He states what the pilots who voted NO to concessions, knew all along--that agreeing to a poor contract in order to save a company from poor mgmt. does not work.
"Since the JCBA failed to ratify, the company has spent a lot of time, effort, and money improving the operation. This effort has included a new hotel sourcing company, management changes at every level, fundamental changes in how SOC conducts business, and many new operational processes. I can confidently say that voting down that JCBA may well have been the best thing for the way ExpressJet Airlines operates. Without this wake-up call, I don’t believe this company would be performing as well as we are today. "
