This is the biggest concession put on the table IMO.
It doesn't matter, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The cost of the tax ultimately will be passed on to the consumer. The government thinks that you will opt for a cheaper less comprehensive plan, and if you don't, you'll pay a higher premium. But hey, at least some of your co workers 25 year old kids can put off getting their own insurance a little longer.
How do you propose the company offset this? Just higher wages? Believe me, I don't like it either, but I place the blame squarely with Obama.
