Agreed, especially with the benefits and retirement package here.

Getting your PIC and getting out isn't so easy. Age 65 went into effect more or less about the time I upgraded. There was almost no hiring during those 5 years. Just a trickle here and there. Then a lot of folks suddenly are sitting on an extra 4000 PIC and are considered overqualified and untrainable.

I've heard from pretty reliable sources that 5000+ Part 121 PIC is a huge downer for most carriers. A lot of folks I know getting hired have between 500-1500 PIC and a few have more as Check Airmen, but the average, experienced line captains are NOT getting called. Ask me how I know this.
