Just because you have a high washout rate does not mean you are "being safe" about the knuckleheads you are hiring. Ask the FAA what they think about lowering the bar. Your complacency in hiring and increasing desperation will continue to make things worse.

Most people have realized that, even with the current thievery of Eagles 47 CRJs, you have still hired all the Captains you need to staff for growth. Now all you need is the suckers to buy into the notion they will upgrade just as fast. Unfortunately, there are plenty of idiots out there that are just as bad at math as I just was above.
The higher recent failure rate is a proof that the training department won't pass someone just to meet the quota. I don't think that's lowering the bar but rather being consistent with their past standards. While I do agree the quick upgrades are gone. However compared to the past, anything less than 5 year upgrade is not bad at all. Many of us sat on the right seat beyond that and still do across the industry.

Maybe AA will pull what Delta just did to AWAC and stop the transfer of Envoy's CRJs. Sorry to say this to our new FOs but I rather see them 700s stay at Envoy and stop this bickering madness. Let's the 5-6 year FOs at Envoy upgrade and let the PSA new hires sit on the right seat for 3-4 years and learn from various captains before upgrading.
