From my understanding, just like the Airlines do not care about what your degree is in (basket weaving, anybody?!), they really do not care about an online degree...A traditional degree only shows that you can succeed in that type of environment. Once you get through your first Initial Airline training program, it shows that you're trainable by their standards.
Don't let anybody here make the decision for you - we are not intimately knowledgeable about your situation...do whats best for you. But GET a degree somewhere!
Well being unhappy with the school I am at brought me to this idea in the first place. We have one duchess, 5 skyhawks and a 172RG... not bad. Lotsa good people too. The problem is the director... he wants the school to grow but doesnt care about the current students all that much... plus he is 70 years old. I have about a year and a half left to finish my degree; the aviation classes are all I need. My problem is that I dont even know if I can finish in that amount of time because the av classes are rotated once every 2 years, with none in the summer. I was thinking about independent studying the ones I would come up short on... but when i went to the av. professors none of them will do it because the school doesnt pay them for independent study.
Thats the biggest problem for me now... I dont want to stay in school longer than I need especially when I know that I will have just one or two classes that I know I could just independent study do get done in that period of time.
To top it off... we just lost our only mechanic... now the 100hrs and 50hrs are going to be done by the director when he "has the time"....
I just hate the the fact of having an online degree.
