One year on reserve is crazy?
I literally laughed out loud at that.
If you get "the 9" you can wear your epaulets backwards though, so that takes the sting out of such an unfathomable period of time on reserve.
Why is this funny? When was the last time you were on reserve at a regional? Do you think you have lost a little perspective and are now unable to empathize? Today's job seeking pilots can go anywhere they want, why would a pilot go to an airline to sit reserve as an FO for a year when they can go to an airline with movement so quick they can be sitting reserve as a CA in the same amount of time it would take to get off reserve as an FO? I think this next year you'll see airlines getting rid of straight reserve lines, more airlines offer hotels before trips, more positive space options to/from work and more FO/CA LOA's like TSA has going to attract new candidates, the playing field has finally tilted in the favor of labor.
