But look, if the market is running so wide open that any pilot can pick and choose any regional to the point where several months of difference on reserve is a deal breaker then, hey, go for it. I really do hope things are that desperate at the regional hiring level.
It just sounded silly and reeked of an entry level entitlement mentality that was based on a very myopic snapshot of the amount of here and now that you could fit on the head of a pin. Funny thing about that mentality though, is that its notoriously hard to pin down and is extremely volatile. Today's instant line is tomorrow's 7 years of reserve. Today's street captain is tomorrow's on the street. Take everything into consideration, including guestimated time on reserve. But take things like that in context and don't over rely on them for your entire decision. Not to mention, you have to get hired first.

Reeks of grumpy guy who had it so hard it's painful to see entry level RJ pilots getting lines right after IOE and upgrading in 1 to 2 years despite the market dictating those conditions. 1 year of reserve is absolutely a deal breaker in this hiring environment, unless it was for sure going to be in base. Don't like it? Cry to the union or management and tell them it's not fair new guys have it so easy. I'm sure they will be sympathetic to your stagnant in the regionals plight. Keep telling us how we are entitled newbs. Meanwhile, we will be finding the quickest path out of the regionals. Maybe you should update your apps with real airlines and network better instead of knocking on new guys on a forum asking legitimate questions, who actually are trying to make informed decisions to further their aviation career with the best realtime info, in what's often a luck and timing guessing game that changes every couple months.
