Don't like it? Cry to the union or management and tell them it's not fair new guys have it so easy. I'm sure they will be sympathetic to your stagnant in the regionals plight. Keep telling us how we are entitled newbs. Meanwhile, we will be finding the quickest path out of the regionals. Maybe you should update your apps with real airlines and network better instead of knocking on new guys on a forum asking legitimate questions, who actually are trying to make informed decisions to further their aviation career with the best realtime info, in what's often a luck and timing guessing game that changes every couple months.
Wrong. I don't care about anyone having to "pay their dues" just for the sake of suffering or whatever. FWIW I'm in favor of hotels for new hires and the complete abolition of the "first year pay" B scale, even though neither would benefit me, as well as a path to major airlines although the details of those paths are open for debate.
And I updated my apps a long while ago, networked and spent a lot of days off studying, calling, emailing, standing in line, "suiting up" and pounding the pavement getting to where I wanted to be.
Its still funny though, especially since you admitted the bolded above, that a newbie would look at "one year on reserve" as this ghastly travesty to be avoided at all costs. Like I said, fine, pick the exact place you want to go. It rarely, if ever, works like that though.
I absolutely understad trying to go where the movement is, based on the best information you have at the time, etc. But anyone that actually thinks a year on reserve is some kind of bogus travesty to be avoided at all costs clearly doesn't know much about the industry and has an entitlement mentality and a fantasy career trajectory that rarely, if ever, materializes. They are setting themselves up from day one to become a grumpy bitter old guy. Oh the irony.
