Lived in Paris from 1952 to 1956 as Dad was stationed there - gov't work. I remember ever so clearly visiting Normandy and looking out from the cliffs into the sea. At that time, 1955 or so, there were still quite a few craft visible from the invasion. Dad found the grave of his cousin, which was sobering.
I'm headed to France next May and most definetely a visit there is scheduled.
The sunken ships are still there off Omaha Beach. I was there last year, picked up a rock at Pont du Hoc. I`m goin` back to Normandy in September for a week, then plan to scoop up some black sand at Iwo Jima next March.
