So what did you do about it?? Did you spend 5 minutes and shoot an email to the DALPA jumpseat coordinator? If that Captain knew you were trying to get on and you informed him there was a way for the agent to make it work, he should have gotten you on. You can OK whatever you want with your CP, your solution to the problem WILL NOT work even if your CP is "on board". Not all CP's are smart.
