Depending on your seniority that 4-5 days can easily be eaten up with your commute, with the worry and hotels to boot. But you probably already know that. If your hiatus has been "long" then you might be surprised to find how well managements are at flying full aircraft now. If you have access to CCS go to the PBS page and look up category reports (line awards) for the BES you're thinking about commuting to and see if people at your seniority can get commutable trips. This will at least give you an idea of the possibilities. Then if you have access to EmpRes start looking at non-rev travel listings to and from that base and see where you sit compared to other non revs.
