I always wrote/updated a cover letter for the body of the email with the PAQ and resume attached. Happy to say I just got an email invite to take the online assessment. I've been sending my updates periodically since 2012, though, so who knows what the magic formula really is. I'm not exactly a "high time" guy anyway, so that may account for my timeline. Frankly, having watched this thread for a couple years now, I don't think there is a fool proof way to get your foot in the door. Just do what you think is best, update often, and keep at it.
