LAX can be pretty nice. Trips start LAX - SFO - NRT. From there guys usually stay in NRT flying Asian out and backs for a week or so and then return to LAX. Might see the occasional NRT - ANC. I rarely see the LAX guys flying within North America.

If you do several Pacific crossings you can get into decent overtime (over 65 hours) but I wouldn't count on it.

Also, NRT - LAX is a two man crew (JCAB regs)

Most guys commute to LAX from west coast US and Canada homes. Couple from Hawaii. A few live there. I can't remember the departure times and how the commute is.
