Screeners are often wrong. Originally crew members had to comply with the liquids restriction. We worked hard to get a exemption however it is in uniform only. Here is a statement from a TSA rep.
Koshetz said allowing badged flight crews in uniform to bring liquids through the checkpoint is a national TSA policy and is not unique to Orlando International. She would not discuss TSA policy regarding airport employees in other cities.
From time to time each airport can be significantly different due to little fifedome microclimates. Pre KCM, MCO for a while (maybe even still?) wouldn't let uniformed crews carry coffee through, simply because the once a year flyers would give them Bolshevik flack about it. So they banned crews from doing it just so they wouldn't have to get yelled at by someone in flip flops.
