Well it was born this way cause Delta was the majority of the threads in the major section. When the UAL/CAL merger went down, people wanted somewhere to discuss SLI/JCBA discussions so they created a "temp" subform. Then the same thing happened to SWA/Airtran and ultimately AA/USAir. That's the history, I think they took the "merger" part off of the subforms a while back.
