Hello United pilots I had a question regarding international jumpseat policy while jumpseating with you guys. I tried to jumpseat from Delhi to Newark on a L-cal metal. As a jumpseater I'm listed in coach & can't list myself in business as gate agents are the one who do the listing for me. On this particular flight the coach was sold out however there were 17 seats available in business. The gate agent told me that they cannot accommodate me as I'm only listed in coach & there are no seats available. I asked if I could talk to the captain to see if he can authorize a seat in business. They called him up but told me they weren't going to stick around for his answer since they had to get the flight out.

Now in this instance what is the policy? As an offline jumpseater on an international flight can I not sit in a business class seat if coach is sold out?
