If we are canceling flights for no pilots available, then it's the companies fault for not staffing properly. We shouldn't have to cover up their mistakes by making deals and flying on our days off to hide the problem. Delta sees this and I'm sure is telling Compass to fix it ASAP...
I didn't even think twice about saying no. I will not encourage the airline to short-staff themselves. Maybe if they have enough cancellations do to no pilots available then they MIGHT actually do something about it. I absolutely refuse to work on my day off or let them treat me like a reserve. I'm a pretty senior FO so I should be the last guy they're calling to "ask for a favor" and treat me like I'm at their beck and call whenever they way.
