Interesting insights---thanks!

Sled:

I had felt the Guns 'n Roses 'Airport City' was probably a better option. Elk Grove is fairly far from ORD, as I recall. One of the biggest hassles at TK is transit time from the airport to the Training Center, or to your hotel (Cherry Creek). A facilty and hotel at the airport would be pretty convenient, except when DEN shuts down for blizzards.

I thought I would favor DEN for that reason (convenience), as well as the availability of space. No more riding the TK shuttle with Putin's brother at the helm.

Then I looked at your first link.

Lots of pretty slides, and they spent some effort to convince us. But not much in the terms of "a pilot's perspective."

Look at slide 7 (labelled page 6). The "Aerospace Technical Institute" looks pretty small to me....not equal in area to TK, let alone TK + TK South.

Look at the Hotel....conveniently placed next to the takeoff-thrust point of Runway 25, or underneath 16L/34R. Yeah, we'll get plenty of sleep at this bustling high-tech Gotham, as FedEx flies newly-made "Aero-bongs" and bales of "Rocky Mountain High," from the new manufacturing and "agribusiness" facilities, round-the-clock to politicians around the country.

Everything abuts the runways. It looks more like Kai Tek than T-K. (Pun intentional).

Slide 2 says it all: "$26 Billion in impact." This is a layout designed by politicians with one mandate: "How much can we cram in here to make the most money?"

They're NOT asking "How do we design it to be an efficient, safe, and enjoyable place to drive to, work, train, or fly from?"

You already know what a nightmare Pena Blvd can be...nothing in this plan makes it better...it looks it would get worse.

Rightly done, I'd favor this. But this plan looks like a goat-rope to me.
