Thanks for the info. To clarify there was no gaming of the system. The interview invitation was an unexpected but welcome surprise as my application was placed ~5 months ago. My separation date of 1 Feb 2015 was my best estimate at the time of my application. I had just been approved for separation from the Air Force (which is the same day I applied to Delta) but my release was contingent on some variables outside my control. Long story short, my separation expiration expired so I had to reapply.
With the number of military pilots Delta has worked with, I'm sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
Well you can try to select an interview date down the road and then give a realistic availability date, Sounds like an administrative screw-up, not the best way to introduce yourself to DAL, but it seems pretty minor and you should be able to work it out.
