Do whatever it takes to get the interview. Then pass the interview. Once you have a class date & equipment/base offer, then you can say yea or nay depending on your circumstances. And just because you happen to accept an FDA assignment does NOT obligate you to move your family there--it just means you won't have the extra living allowances for housing, schools, etc. Will it be hard? Assuredly. Will it be worth it? Absolutely.

In the meantime, keep working those contacts at the legacies hiring by the bucketful.

Just my $0.02 worth.
I should have stipulated--Do not lie. Do not mislead. But there is a big difference between saying you are willing today--right here right now--to accept a hypothetical FDA assignment and (for example) saying you have a current medical or other required qualification listed. If you have zero intention of EVER accepting an FDA assignment, either with or without your family, then definitely do not check yes. I hope "they" remove these wide-open FDA questions. Until they do, every time you change your mind after talking to your significant other, better make sure you update your application accordingly.
