I just completed the ATP course with CAE in Dallas. They are using a Falcon 900 and Falcon EX sim. They are in the process of getting other sims authorized due mainly to scheduling restraints...ie...the more sims available, the easier it is for them to schedule. The class before mine had to use the sims after midnight. Our schedule was normal.

The course requires 10hrs of sim time, CAE gave us 12 hours. It was great for me, not having flown in a number of years. Was able to shoot multiple approaches, do steep turns, basically knock the rust off.

Overall the sims are scenario situations. Abort, Low vis taxi, engine out, wake turb, wind shear as well as seeing if you'll let the controller put you in a bad situation, for example.

Bottom line is you don't need to know anything about the AC you do the sim in. It helps if you're familiar with auto pilot and FMS but not a big deal if you're not. I'd never used any of that stuff before and they talk you through all the buttons to push.

Cost was $4950.
