I heard an interesting rumor at the bar tonight. No flames intended; just looking for some F9 insight about this rumor. Rumor, as it was explained to me, was that the leadership of FAPA, at the time of the possible SWA aquisition, had a few former Morris pilots at the helm. (SWA bought morris light years prior, and stapled the Morris pilots to the bottom of the list.). Story that was told to me explained that a few Morris pilots hated the thought of being stapled and quit SWA back in the day. After refusing the SWA staple, a few of them eventually ended up at F9 and LATER ended up in FAPA leadership positions.
The thought of quiting SWA to avoid a staple, only to be stapled at the bottom eons later, was just too much for the FAPA leadership. So they made up the rumors of significant pilot furloughs if an SWA acquisition occured.
Is there any truth to this? Or is this just a good bar story?
Happy New Year everyone!
