What is the real scoop on this issue? Any prospects for a guy with a 4 year degree?
It is similar to a piloting career. Get your rating, go to a crappy regional, "upgrade" (get promoted to a supervisor), and then apply to a major airline. The good news is there was no age 65 ruling for dispatchers, so there is not a backlog of dispatchers stuck at the regional level. Also, a dispatch rating is a lot cheaper than all the pilot ratings required, so your return on investment is much better. The pay at a regional is often higher than FO pay too.
