All,
Here is the deal. It doesn't matter your background. You will be called/hired based on a few metrics....
1. Your resume/experience assigns points to you and how you stack up. Don't read into this as who is the better aviator because I flew hornets or Erjs.
2. Job fairs and meet and greets give more points thus better chance to be called sooner.
3. The points assigned based on your background has been weighted the same regardless of your background (see the trend). This levels the playing field by field for a 10,000 hour regional to be equal to a 3000 hour fight guy and vice versa.

You all are taking this to a level that doesn't exist. Is there favortism and such, I am sure at some level. Do interviewers have bias towards someone of similar background? Maybe. The person who prepares and interviews well will get hired. No real dark magic or guidance to hire one group over the other.
