What makes you think Skywest sees a failure? They want to keep pilots divided. If they had wanted a real merger, Skywest Airlines would have been involved too. In retrospect, that would have gone much more smoothly because far more would have been given up for a true 3 way merger. This has been job well done from their perspective. They will just throw away the unionized side(s) of the corporation when all is done.
I've said this for a long time. If Skywest offered to merge all three airlines, I would've been fine with their work rules (as bad as some of them are) and flight line. But instead, their plan is going perfect and we still have three separate pilot groups, just like they wanted in 2008.
