All they care about is a short term fix that would staff the regionals for a few years until their tenure is up and it will be someone else's problem. Going back to wet commercial ticket will just delay the shortage for another 2 years. The same thing happened with age 65 and they did nothing to get ready for today.
I think eventually they will see the light, or maybe they have but don't want to admit it, or are just trying to milk the regionals for a few more years. In the end I think there will [I]maybe[I] be a regional for each mainline or the demand will allow small narrow bodies to be flown on current RJ routes by mainline pilots.
