For the mil guys recently hired (or anyone else), any guesses on avg mil hours needed for hire? I'll be retiring in Aug 2016 with about 3,500 TPT and ~1,800 PIC (C-130, C-17 and a lot of King Air).

Definitely in the ballpark. Keep saving your leave so you can start terminal ASAP. At current rates, starting a class in June vs August could be 250 seniority numbers... but either way you'll likely still be well forward of the wave's crest.
