FAA Investigates Planes Crossing Paths at New York?s JFK - Bloomberg
I just read this article and it reminded me of a landing at BOS a few years ago. We were on short final coming in from over the bay on a clear blue-sky day when tower cleared USxxx for takeoff. El Capitain & I both looked at each other as they started to roll and said "that's not gonna work, be ready to go around left side". Tower recognized the situation & told USxxx to abort their takeoff & advise if able to hold short of our runway. They did, we landed & rolled out right in front of them. It really wasn't a huge deal because we saw it happening & the weather was good. I always think though how bad that day could have gone if the weather was not so great. My alert factor is ALWAYS on high on any dual ops, intersecting runway like those. SFO, PHL, ORD are a few that come to mind with the stuff I fly. Nothing major, just thought I'd share. Peace
