OldHrntDRVR,
FWIW I'm a reservist and I've never had a problem taking mil leave. The company of course is disorganized and takes forever to mark it correctly in Merlot, but they've always put MIL in the notes (I gave them my schedule well in advance) so I've never gotten a phone call over it. As long as you have orders or a schedule with a military letterhead and Commanders sig at the bottom your good.
Use it as an excuse to escape a strike and not scab? Do whatever you got to do, just don't cross the picket line. If we go on strike...No one goes back to work til we get a contract, then EVERYONE goes back to work.
Things are rough here and I know guys are picking up as much mil leave as they can to escape the company's wrath (legally of course). That said, I only recommend coming here if you live in one of our junior bases and can still deal with being involuntarily being TDY'd. In the last two classes, quite a few guys couldn't hold the bases they wanted and were forced into it.
Good Luck with you decision and feel free to PM me if you need any more info.
