For those living in income tax free states (FL, TX, and others) I was told to expect about $2000 a month take home including perdiem for the first year. I was also told that if you live in base you can pick up and make extra money by bringing your line up to 80-85 hours, but for commuters it is difficult. About a year ago I was consistently able to credit 90 hours a month, lately it has been much more difficult. Most decent trips in open time don't last 3 minutes it's like guys are sitting in open time waiting for something to drop. That said once you hold a line 80 hours is very doable.
