UAL and DAL have historically been paid well above AA and have had much better contracts to boot. AA will even have rates above them for the time being yet people still are causing a fit. It's no secret that of the top carriers AA was in the bottom until the Airways bankruptcy deals. DAL and UAL have paid better overall long term and yet they continue to get raises. I wouldn't worry about what they think, they have a very limited understanding about how the rate reset even works.
Interesting thay you chose to type that AA will have rates above them, yet you don't mention that our W2's won't be above them even for the one year our rates will be.
