Like others, I've been fairly negative at times in the past. I suppose part of that is that I engage with a lot of people, do comm work and can't tear myself away from the web boards, so I hear about a lot of stuff the average pilot might not. I also wanted prospective new hires to hear all the bad stuff, so that they could make an informed decision and not be surprised when they walked through the door.
That said, I think things are looking up. Perhaps not with the management, I see several train wrecks coming that we've been warning about for a long time, but instead with the pilot group. I like the new ExCo and their attitude. Lots of work being done on our behalf in many, many quadrants. Still a long way to go, but it's encouraging, and I think people are starting to take notice. I think more people are quoting chapter and verse of the CBA to the company, and they're starting to notice, too.
And, not insignificantly, I had a great 14-day trip with zero problems. A few nit-picky things I had to call about, but Travel was (mostly) eager to help. Enjoyed a great 5-day layover at the beach in SYD, and my trip didn't change once. Refreshing.
I made $74k in my 2nd year on the 767, $88k in my 3rd. I'm senior, but to be honest, being home is a lot more important than making money, and I bid accordingly.
I will leave if the major I want calls me, but I'll miss this job for the rest of my career, warts and all. Take away the bickering with the company and by far, it's the most fun job I'll ever have.
