Other common uses for company card are taxis, sometimes visas, and other authorized company expenses. It is much easier to use the company card than to pay cash and send in for a cash reimbursement. When I take a taxi, I try to get taxis that will take the card, vs. having to pay with cash. If the cost is much more than a few dollars I will not pay with my own cash. Sometimes, if we need a taxi and they won't take a card, we have the hotel add the taxi cost to our hotel room, and the hotel gives us cash to pay the taxi driver.
We do have to reconcile out company credit card expenses at the end of each month...i do NOT like doing this. Luckily, if the expense is under $75, or it's for ground transport between the airport and hotel, we no longer need to send in a receipt. The airline tickets are almost always paid for by the company, so we don't need a receipt for those, also. SOMETIMES we have to pay for airline travel with our company credit card...usually only if something goes wrong...I think I have done this once in the last 5 years.
